Crazy Like a .. *****************
Tonight I was down at the lake a somewhat later start than usual because I wanted to actually make and eat a complete dinner without any interuptions immediately afterwards I scoopped up Jinky who had been waiting staring at me eat and then rode him down waterwards hoping we could be there in time for the final electric pink sunset with the perfect full moon rising like an enormous golden peach the beach was packed with observers: locals tourists and small family gatherings complete with Grammas kids and dogs this amasing celestial phenominaia was not lost on them
we de-biked without ceremony and strolled over to the iron steps and scooted down tp the waters edge Jinky was greeted with a chorus of moon wacked dog barking from his regular canine chorus of primal foes on chain leads whom he ignored to explore a huge dead carp that had washed up on the sandbar as they growled in envy Jinky gloriously enveloped himself behind a curtain of wonderful fish stink evety one of the tethered dogs were forbidden to approach I looked on from a safe non stinky distance Surprise! My fun neibour appeared with his happy GF and her bashfull younger sister visiting from the evil city as soon as they spotted Jinky surveying the huge dead carp he called out in delight " Thats that cat we telling you about, rides on a bike and comes when you call him friendliest nicest little guy yiu ever met" Jink- eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the music of sheer adoration to which the carp sniffing hero of the beach suitably responded to by walking right over and being just so nice and helloable tail waving in the breeze these were super nice people lets not forget- people who had adored him many times before who had known him since he was four inches long people well worth giving up a dead fish for In a few seconds he was running and jumping from log to log to impress the girls and make my happy neibour laugh some kids on thje meadow above were looking on , pointing and shouting "Mom you have to see this" all the while Jinky in a state of great excitement scrambled at a feather tied to a string as we clapped and laughed reckless leaps at a feather just inches from the waters edge even the bashful sister managed to be catagorically uncool and glee it up a little then Jinky got carried up the iron stairs in the big arms of my happy neibour all the while biting him in mock rabid wildness well the sun disappeared and the streetligts went on our signal to head for home.. in a few minutes we were back on the bike tracing our familiar route home when Jinky spotted one of his cat friends crossing the road he squirmed and made a fuss to be let down so i did and let him greet his friend in the middle of the road in a proper catlike manor as i looked on from a respectful distance a van approached.. headlights shining on us I waved for them to slow down, or stop or something just don't run us all over the van stopped and the driver rolled down the window I could tell there were some excited kids in there the driver lady asked me breathless "are you the man with the fox?" ----- I beg your pardon ? " we saw you on the beach with a little trained fox " __ that was no fox that was Jinky the little red cat and his hommies " how did you train a cat to do tricks?" a little voice called out from inside the van --Oh.. special catfood and lots of books " What kind of catfood!!??" ----Tuna and magic water "Magic water??" the unseen faces called out at which point the driver Mom inteupted say they have a long way to drive still and they have plenty of magic water in Lake Michigan thanked me and said goodnight and I thanked them for not running us all over
