JInky Skips Nightschool Class ******************************* Friend sarah comes over for some sort of Friday evening harvest season vegetarian supper as she is the only other vegger for miles in this meat eating town I make flaffals and a middle east salad but she is too upset to eat - boyfriend trouble - carreer problems - family headaches - even dog drama but still keeps upbeat in spite of it all she lets her food get cold though as she smokes a lot of cigarettes and tells me about her life and then puts her whole plate untouched in the fridge after we decode to vacate and walk to the corner store for ginger ale= Jinky decides to follow us as the summer cicads serenade above its just easier to deal with him as an equal on a voyage of discovery than carry him home and then try to outrun him all the way to the store Jinky dawdles along behind us and I can see him overly fascinated with ditches and culverts freshly trimmed hedges and a freshly dead sparrow and what looks like his sparrow family watching from the tree overhead Sarah decides to unleash her newly coloured hair from its elastic restraint for all the world to behold its purplish mahogany glory blowing in the breeze and also display her wonderful new sunglasses when we get to the corner the traffic is not cat friendly so we carry Jinky across the intersection he decides this is a huge game so he bites me hard clamp down fangs and also swat at sarahs face all merry and happy as he destroys us and we cannot fight back as we carry a squirming red kitten towards the non descript strip mall
Sarah guards Jinky and restrains him on the sidewalk of the mini mall while I go in to buy the healing hinger ale and snag two paper cups from the slushie display with ugly blue slush eternally churning like a windex poisoned snowdrift Jinky I learn in the four minutes I was inside had tried to slip into the pizza store and join in the co motion if several bored kids chowing down on those esseential triangles Sarah had to fetch him back and hold onto him we cross the highway to go back I sheppard Jinky ahead of me crossing at the corner but he is useless at anything involving co operation so sarah picks him up and he merrily bites her hands till she can dump him on the opposite sidewalk we know if we just walk he will follow us and he does so we do till we get to the dentists office.. which is closed because its Friday evening wealthy Dr. Gumby has the finest lawn in town remarkably well kept and exceptionally lush But you can only see his immaculate gardens & lawn from the street you can't see anything from inside the office or laying back in the dentist chair and we know for a fact that nobody at all... except his gardner has ever ever walked on his lawn or came up close to his flower beds in all the years he has been in practise so we sat in the middle of the wonderful virgin green lawn with wonderfful flowers in full bloom on a wonderful temperate Friday evening toasted the sky for the precious gift of life and sipped our ginger ale as Jinkly raced about at random First thought was to take photos of proud Jinky amongst the dentists' flowers & he was glad to pose regally tail errect, fur blowing in the light breeze amongst the black eyed susan forest and towering pink hydrangas Jinky somehow connects the pressence of a roving camera with an opportinity to receive somebodys undivided attention and will walk right into the lens for a super close up I have several red blurr shots on file to prove this in court if necessary dental lawn gypsies we moved on as quicky as we arrived and coaxed Jinky to follow us back to my place so we could then go onrward to the beach and really Friday party hard but as soon as he got on the driveway he disappeared I whistled him down but he did not respond so we walked to the beach hoping he would show up at the lake the view way way across yonder to the twinkling city of Toronto was truly awesome.. How many times had I been in that distant metropolis for learning work or love only to turn around and try to get back here as fast as I could? Too many times beep beep pal technoman arrived in his little black car calling out from the dark as he knew if I wasn;t home i would be at the beach with Jinky Technoman is one of Jinkys greatest fans Jinky will greet him then walk all over him when he visits but there was no Jinky tonight instead in the dark at the beach was sarah drinking ginger ale and chain smoking in a halo of dull orange glow of smouldering tobacco technoman & sarah discuss Australia as the twilight beciomes very dark and moody 10,000 stars come out overhead serenaded by 10,000 crickets and a warm breeze from the lake stirrs the trees into laughter the evil city yonder switches on its lights all at once and comes alive like a string of glowing pearls as 10,00 people all at once go out drinking to whatever honky tonk they can squeeze into Sarah grabs a lift from technoman back to my place as she is too tired to walk and I meet them there sarah phones home for a ride back home which is nestled in the stillness of the fruit orchards and technoman and me wave goodbye and go inside where I pull Sarahs cold dinner out of the fridge and heat it up and we eat it and at the same time we look over an antique black plastic casio electric piano circa 1981 I scored from la trash the night before apparently someone was downscaling in a hurry or moving out in a hurry who decided that living piano free was a good idea we plugged it in - hummmm click and it worked like a charm perfect condition in the same origional 80s box we doodled around on the 1001 cheezy 80s sound effects and the quaint but puzzling pre recorded tempos. worth every cent of nothing Jinky walks in after missing his own scheduled voyage to the beach as if nothing had happened' nothing really did happen and he jumps on the table we are working at and walks along the keyboard to announce his arrival and out comes random music and we laugh at how passably good it was not at all emo thats all anyone would ever want from a garbage night piano -some fun money back guarantee
