A Tangerine Sky ***************
No Jinky at 7 pm so i whistle for him like an idiot for 10 minutes then he comes trotting out from undermneath a parked truck having been asleep there= zoooom down to the beach and its sort of crowded maybe 20 people and their dogs there a dozen people drinking wine and laying on blanklets to watch the sun go down and wow ! what a view !! two days of fierce winds have pretty much blown all the stink away and I can clearly see on the horizon the tips of buildings from three cities spread across 100 miles of sky it was scary as if they are getting fatter and stronger and coming this way to eat us in due time -in due time they will Jinky was glad to be playing on the meadow where he could feel the breeze and enjoy wide open space _and_ an audience to watch him make astounding leaps and go " awe isn't he cute?- isn't he clever? " indeed he is the only and therefore the cuteist kitten at the beach over strolls an old guy hood natured looking somewhat nuts asking where I got the cat as if he would buy one too if the price was right.. in a few seconds this absolute dish of a beautiful babe with a wonderful camera walks over sweetly asking if Grampa is bothering us? oh no.. he was just asking about the cat here Jinky - hero of the beach
she starts taking photos of Jinky and her Grampa getting down on the grass to get expert shots I can smell the perfume wafting off her and she seems to know exactly what she is doing-- - humouring her Grampa - amusing Jinkly - setting up the next shot - and charming me all at the same time Then I catch on that she is taking care of her Grampa for the day and that he has Alzheimers and she is lovingly documenting her special time with him Then Grampa reaches into his pocket and pulls out a piece of cooked chicken the size of a bar of soap and lays it down on the grass in front of Jinky " Grampa! " the dish calls out " where did you get that?' " I saved it" he mumbles " I saved it from supper. I'm taking it home for Tinker " Dish girl gestures to me in pantomine that Tinker was his dog who has been dead for several years Jinky is glad to play the part of lovable Tinker the mystery ghost pet and starts to greedily chomp down on the chuck of chicken without any hesitation as Grampa looks on and the charming dish girl clicks away, rolling on the grass like she was five years old again to get the most interesting cat -point- of- view shots with chunks of chicken in the foreground and Jinkys greedy little teeth biting down and a confused but beaming Grampa looking on benevolently tangerine sunset framing him like the hero he is to her she was so very beautiful her tender affections the tender chicken It was all so beautiful everybody had a wonderful gift for somebody else
