Machine Loving Cat

My neibour bought
a big professional style lawn mower
with a built in mulcher bar
and a fan and graviyy pick up
so he can pick up
the acorns and oak leaves and twigs in one pass. No more all day
raking and bagging mucking around
But thats a new size engine
for this neibourhood
way larger than the push mowers
everybody else has
and its very loud and blows out smoke
This greatly excited Jinky who ran out
to watch the monster machine
grind up the neibours lawn
shake and smoke and wiggle
he even got up opn the squirrel fence
to watch from the best seat available
after half an hour
the job was done..
neibour man turned off the engine
and prepared to bag up the harvest
and then over comes Jinky
tpo walk all over the machine
inspect and smell everything
interfere with bagging the mulch
interfere with gassing it up
interfere with the safety equiptment
smell the neibours shoes
and look in the pockets
of his work shirt foled on the seat
and stick his nose in the tool kit
rub against the can of WD 40
and swat at the rolling socket wrenches However this neibour
remembers Jinky
as the curious kitten from spring
and puts up with his interference
raising three sons
maybe made him used to
having smaller beings in the way
Jinky is not outgrowing his fascination
with powered machinery
i guess he was just on a summer sabatical
the dry spell made for
way fewer grass cuttings
but now that the rains have returned
and the grass is growing again
and lawns are being cut
Jinky hasreturned to
his un explained love of
gasoline powered motors
