Cats will be Cats ****************** A neibours son approached me yesterday to tell me Jinky is a freqtent vistor in their yard and often chases squirrels However, yesterday there was a crippled squirrel in their yard and when Jinky stopped by their yard to explore there he noticed a hunting opportunity and then began harassing the crippled squirrel chasing it around so it had to limp away and then try to climb a tree but hyperagile Jinky could easily outclimb him and easily swat him to the ground again and again in some of reverse flow 911 rescue action This upset the family watching from in the house as the son went out to save the squirrel Dad held Jinky back with a broom and Mom called the Humane Society within the hour the humane society showed up : a retrired man in his own car carrying a small wire cage directing the dad to keep the cat away while the son to cornered the crippled squirrel by the garage for capture by a animal control specialist soon the crippled squirrel was in the cage and on its way to animal medical services as Jinky squinted in annoyance at the humam interference in his lifestyle but stayed in the tard to watch it all go down howbeit with a broom aimed at his head The family were not mad at Jinky for doing what cats do which is try to catch squirrels whenever he can.. the son just wanted me to know that there are no hard feelings Jinky is still welcome in their yard and cooly added that " well...cats will be cats " as he walked away I yelled out to him " cats will be cats allright... ...they boink ...they dream ...and they have adventures " the son gave me a good natured power salute and an energetic "yee ha ! ! ! " yell as if he too lived by the rules that govern cats
