Can't Fool the Squirrels ************************ I see afternoon squirrels walking on the snowcrust the surface of the earth is sometimes three feet underneath yet squirrels come out when the sun shines at mid day it must be like Antartica to them their secret food supplies are almost unaccssable and there is only so much food and yet there is so-o-o-o-o much time before practical spring gets here at this latitude this has been a very long hard winter and especially so for the squirrels of Canada March is the cruelest month as this is half way between the end of their stored food and the earliest date they can find more if they run out now they will die
The squirrels don't look fat anymore in fact they look a half sized and way less fluffy than they did in january i guess they are getting hungry and desperate and bold I have seen the occassional squirrel run over on the highway ravens take turns picking away at them flapping up all at once in a furious noise when a vehicle approaches hovering overhead like spectres of dark doom as the vcehicles passes over their target but as soon as the vehicle disappears they gently float back to the snowy tarmac like black angels to resume their feast the other squirrels do not seem to notice any of this or maybe they do notice all of this but they don't care much about death while they are so busy seeking life you can't have one without the other and you can't have them both at the same time its not so much a case of life & death so much as it is a choice of ---life ---or -- death ask any squirrel they will choose ........life everytime
