Wildlife Drama

So Taser now
has friends' in the
skunk community.
However, the skunk community
doesn't have many friends
in the human community
Seems while i was thinking
about skunks last night
before i got home
other people also noticed
the sudden release of skunks
all coming out at once to feed
on garbage bags
and some old people
took their garbage back inside
their garages for the night
after Taser was done nose kissing
the baby skunk here
he had his dinner
then immediately went back outside
I didn't see him till noon today.
when he came home hungry
and in a bad mood
Later this afternoon
neibour tells me
he brought his garbage
back inside his garage last night
so the marauding armies of skunks
wouldn't get at it..
and as he was hauling the bags inside
he saw a baby skunk emmerge
from his woodpile
so friendly and unafraid
that he thought it had rabies -
it came right at him!
so he ran away with his garbage
and rushed inside his house
and closed the garage door
by remorte contol
That sure showed a baby skunk
who was the master of trash
and who wasn;t
But Taser was in that garage
possibly waiting for
his new black & white playmate
to join him stealing hubcaps
when the garage door
was mysteriously closed for the night
He was sealed in there in the dark, alone
with two bags of garbage
and a parked car
Taser spent the night in the garage cat jail
and was only released at noon
when said neibour went to go shopping
he told me he heard a pitiful little cry
and out stepped a crabby little red kitten
from underneath his new blue Subaru
he recognised Taser'
and saw that he vwas wearing
a proper collar and ID Tag
the way it should be
I was warned not to let my kitten out
when skunks were on the prowl
because they are natural enemies
and if cats & skunks ever confront
one will end up dead
The garbage trucks came at 1 pm
and took all the garbage bags away
from the whole street
to the great disappointment
of the skunk community
next week there is a town meeting
to decide what to do about all the
foxes, coyotes & skunks
that seem to show
no normal fear of people
_ normal fear?
when did fear
become normal ?
My kitten
kisses skunks
on the lips
he isn't gay
but he is friendly
