trying to push
your giant red cat
off the table again
and again
and again
so you can
answer emails
and eat a rushed supper
and said big red cat
flies up on the table YET again
and as you reach
to put him down
he catches your eye
with an expression
of steely determination
and as you try to outstare him
in a battle of the wills
he stretches out over your arm
and pretends to be asleep
in three seconds
all he wanted was to lay on you
and fall asleep
like when he was tiny kitten
and i could find the time
to just watch him breathe
and dream
and be still
so he won in the battle of wills
he won and therefore
so did i
what could possibly be
more important
that peace on the part of earth
we are actually inhabiting
at his moment
i have the smartest
best cat
the world can ever imagine
he knows how to win
so that everybody wins
peace on earth
good will tord men
from the animals
who know whats important
happy new year has already started
