Friendly Fire-Burning House Divided

Love like fire
is as wonderful as it
terribly destructive.
crazy love doesn't seem to
work out for anybody
who is not paying attention
there are just
various degrees
of surrender going on
at any given moment
Affection is real
friendship is real
enduring affectionate friendship is real
all so very real & so very good
but this crazy love business
where you buy into somebody
is a passport to hartache
give and don't get
get and don't care
care and don't give or don't get
careless, hopeless, timeless
brainless
stainless
maintaining comfort and altruism
as she shops for a better squeeze deal
on my phone
bad form
say one thing
do another
shape shifting explanations are lies
at best I will just ignore it and pass it off as wildness mixed with selfishness
and not return the fire
Whether you're nineteen
or fifty-seven,
love is just like war:
It doesn't give a fuck
who it explodes against
who cries
who dies
maybe thats why love and war
are the rule less arts where all is fair
more like gladiator combat
than good humans
seeking good humans
I prefer enduring affection
where respect and consideration
actually happens
where i am in on it
hormones don't ruin animals
and their bonds of affection
where do you get off
pulling a ductless gland
on me as an excuse
for unacceptable behavior?
Windshield seeks bug
for high speed impact
leave me out of it
wake up and stay awake
save the pouty drama
for the weekends
when you sleep in til lunch
don't pull me underwater
to drown in your private dreamland
nobody owes you a catastrophe
to blog about
This is life
it's not anything else
really, what else is there
except life to deal with ?
