Artists & the Big Lie **********************
People do bad things. People do good things. The worst thing people can do is to Lie. The Lie creates a view of reality which does not reflect what is really happening or meant. The Lie makes something appear to be the case when it is not. The Lie blinds us to what is true and right and can reverse these in our minds. In other words, the Lie is the best way to take power; to control others; to prevent others from controlling or accurately directing their own lives. The Lie is deeply anti-life, anti-freedom, anti-individualist. To make reality appear to be something it is not is to do harm deliberate. This is called being 'politically correct'. To be cool is to be liked, feared and admired. It is to have taken the Lie to the realm of Grace. Because life is complex, Free Speech guarantees that we can say what we like whether it is fully or only partly true; or even if it is untrue but we didn't realize that. To Lie, on the other hand, is to destroy Free Speech through destructive intent. Those who prevented others from speaking are expert at the Lie. Being so, they can take control and do not have to explain themselves. Dictators never have to explain themselves. Were they to, we would see through their ruse and demolish them. So long as we accept cool people being cool we protect the Lie and the Liar. The Lie prevents us from hearing our own truth and from knowing its beauty.
It is anti-life. This is why it is always practiced by suicide bombers, tyrants and far left negotiators - their hatred for life and freedom and creative evolution are their way of saying: " I am afraid of life and don't want you to be more than I can ever be." Envy is the source of the Lie. Fear and destruction are its consequence. No analysis or debate can change the Liar's perspective. They are terrified of what is. They want security, boundary, stasis. While the freedom-lover searches for opportunity, openness, progressive evolution. The Lie is anti-evolutionary because, like socialism, it is not in love with life, but caught in the need for security above all else. For the knowable, predictable and controllable, it is most unforgiveable that so many artists, poets, authors are left wing. They hang with the life-haters and shelter-seekers. These are not the future. They are nothing. Posted by: Mary Devin | 2010-05-16 10:48:30 AM
