Gen X Rules the World

of the torch of freedom
the heirs of the herb of wisdom
the smoke inspired new thinkers
they cheer on the death squads
they applaud police cars burning
and get excited at the sound of smashing windows
hope that the corporations that bring them their luxuries will perish
they hate the world
now that they are running it
and no empathy
for anybody else
who does not follow their narrow tribal creedo

John Lennon sang of one world,
as did all the prophets
for thousands of years
yet these jerks
fear and fight one world
they like darkness
they love strife
they mistake chaos for creative
They will not fight for
what they value
they will not work for
what they want
they will not build
something from nothing
they will not share
abundance and opportunity
