the big dik drawn on the drawbridge
was just plain nasty,
there was no fun in it
same for the palace intruders,
assholes are not funny guys
they're assholes
the distinction between
annoying asshole
and funny guy
absorbed ancient greeks..
yes.. their fledgling voyage
into democracy
struggled hard to define
the difference between
comedy and vandalism
the final conclusion
they arrived at
after serious investigation
into the bedrock
universal values
of the human world
sought to measure
where parody and insult branch out
where slapstick and assault divide
roughly, the decision was
assholes = the bite of the dog
comedians = the bite of the sheep
courts decided whether
a stunt was dogish,
or sheepish
in intent and effect
severity of the chomp
was not a factor--
--comedians
received rewards and applause
--vandals
were beaten and exiled
it has never paid
to be an asshole
worst part is,
assholes don't
usually know
they are assholes
but they soon find out
