Baby Parade *********** I sit here watching as the baby parade passes by my window new moms - two by two each pushing their investment into the future stroller on towards the lake to show their little ones the glory of the sky and water that they had never seen having only been born in the fall or winter how their tiny minds will blow up and over because of the miracle I can only think of a dog born under similar circumstances born in October who spent the first few weeks of her life in a box in a warm room and ferried occasionally by truck in the cold dark gloom of mid winter to struggle through snowdrifts with older stronger dogs but she adored the life she first beheld that winter and delighted in snapping at snowflakes and appreciating the grey skeletal forest during those short cold days winter was fine winter was fun' winter was full and beautiful to be alive in I was there as she first experienced spring .. I watched her eyes as she beheld the unadvertised delight of the sky brightening and the breeze warming the yard filling with birds and flowers and the sacred breath of green lushness breathing life into the grey skeletal trees Winter was was just fine but spring.... spring was absolutely wonderful nobody had told her that life gets better as you go along Summer was a dreamy light enhanced voyage to heaven the autumn was adventure of fullness and then winter came back if a dog can be delivered into bliss by the cycle of the seasons there is no reason whatsoever to doubt that the same thing is happening in the baby parade passing by today
