I Have Outlived My Purpose *************************** I watched as my brilliant cartooning career turned to crap.. new media prefered stock photos new media offered free exposure to a million amateurs, they got crap but paid zero for it new media was only paying half, then a quarter then a tenth of old school art fees within a very short time new media would re-use art without asking or offering compensation new media would never keep a few artists on freelance with enough work to stay alive- everybody got fucked once then new media moved onto the next sap, there are no call backs in new media, None new media was making money from advertising revenues, not paying for paper, film or distribution: dropping staff to skeleton level and still not paying for art or writing. They kept all the money for themselves. new media did not grow- Only the software writers and IP servers grew, everybody else in the chain of new media died. new media fell apart because they were not coming out with anything interesting. special, insightful or valuable. just shit wrapped around ads.. and everybody knew it new media steals, and new media with holds royalties, and new media can;t make or keep friends in production, distribution or sales so they dry up like minnows in a desert pothole. As a result, new media has no line of credit People can't read because they won't read. Thats all there is to it. We're losing that ability like we have lost the ability to cook & feed ourselves, kindle a fire, sew on a button , or to even amuse ourselves without spending money. They will watch and listen but they will not read. We have to live with that retrograde of perception I am still hopeful that some people are original and appreciate originality in other people. same way as they appreciate a fresh loaf of bread, a ripe tomato or a clean pair of underwear. It is simply well worth the effort of wearing clean underwear in a world of skids
