Olden Days

My Gramma told me a story
that suddenly is relevant-
when she was a girl, everybody she knew
had to get up early everyday
and take care of animals-
horses, cows, chickens, dog or cat-
those smaller and or animal beings
depended on the kids for their lives.
Thats what kids talked about -
their animals,
their responsibilities,
their kindness investment,
the progress of eggs hatching,
calves fattening,
patience, all that
- that was discipline,
self discipline,
Today that is transposed to
sit on your chair, do your task
- don't shirk or short change the system-
It's the 21st Century version of
haul animal poop & food ,
The never fail dedication to task
thinking of animals and smaller kids
in deadly cold weather
and projecting and managing solutions.
the self was & still is
just the equipment operator -
not the golden retard
whom all planets
and concerns orbit around
It involves you'
but its not about you
you are about kit
tough love is still love
the chickens get fed-
your little sister gets let inside
on a rainy day
the kittens get attention
X Box can wait
amusements are not a priority
if they are
civilization is doomed
