Caribou Leftovers

A Cree Artist friend
told me that following,
eating & hunting caribou
was so wonderful
that he would never want to
settle down & live in one place
if he could still get around..
Partying outside with your friends
24-7 for decades at a time,
a Bar B Q every night,
moving with the seasons,
berries, game & fish
there for the taking -
paradise.
It made me think
that was the attraction
all along being big game hunters
long ago in Canada ,
its not a seasonal hobby
but a full time lifestyle..
wonderfully versatile & sustainable
that delivers the groceries
to the family without fail�
that would be a
powerful motivator to follow caribou herds wherever and whenever they moved,.
.and carry on doing so for ,..
whatever it took..
what's 10,000 years
when you're having a good time
with your friends and family ?
Seriously-- living by the chase
is well worth it ..
it's what the ancients called the Golden Age
-- thats when all the initial
Eurasian Myths took place -
while modern man or whatever
in the valleys below
scratched away at a patch of soil
with a skinny goat tied up ..
always watching the horizon for enemies sacrificing to some clay doll
to ensure survival
is a not exactly paradise scenario
in comparison.
Cereal or meat?
freedom or conformity?
stone or metal ?
The choice is always there
