Jinky and the Cold Wind of October ************************************* Good old Jinky is rather clingy these days now that the cold weather is approaching' This time last year he was too small to go outside much & experience the end of summer and witness the arrival of cruel winter this time last year he was just one more kitten in a box in some crazy cat ladys house in the middle of nowhere and oblivious to the world lost in the affections of his cat Mom and hiskitten bros & siss's When he arrived here to move in he was whisked in the house away from the cold wind away from the greyness of the sky to the happy glow of my studio lights and the warm indoor wind of the furnace Now that he is big he can see the arrival of the cruel winter and the decay of summer bliss for himself with his keen discerning eyes maybe he has a sence of appreciation that he is happily installed as a free agent in the glory of the world with a happy warm home to return to anytime he wants.. where he is loved and appreciated when he arrives no questions asked except " howz it going? " So he quests all day and wanders back here at dusk anxious and pacing as if he is aware the world is changing all around him
after eating his fill he just wants to curl up on my lap, lick his feet and hook himself into my sweater with 20 claws of certainty to drift off asleep and dream while i stroke his cheeks no night so dark we can't light it up somewhat no cold so hard we can't warm it up a little no doubt so sharp we can;t laugh it off in time oh to be happy where we are oh to be content where we belong we seem to all live one and the same life inside different bodies
