I awoke refreshed
after a working hard yesterday
and eating so well afterwards
with friends and tea and bold plans
best laugh was noting that
the mainstream alternative people
who reject faith
and any idea of church
or anything white people hath rendered
turn to ......Bob Marley-
who sang in church all his life
and was a devote Christian'
and his lyrics are powerfully charged
with Gospel messages
and so in his own way
he brought the stoners
and the moaners
and the do it all aloners
into the light they had rejected

we had seen a cheesie YouTube clip
of farty old Willie Nelson' singing
a deeply contrived cover song
carefully art directed to push the humble
complete with chipped up guitar and
battred old buildings
and black kids, carefully draped in rags
dirty dancin; in slow mo'
to the slipping lip syncing
of Grampa Willie, their old white snowman
as he sang Bob Marleys proto Biblical classic

and he sure sounded preacherman
oozing them sentiments as a gift shop
bandito rebel rocker pirate entertainer
but hey- as long as its Bob Marley
and not someone trying to sell Jesus
i suppose its OK..
To the Jamacians who come
to work on the fruit farms here
Bob Marley is first and foremost
a proud strong musical Christian
