Garage Sale Deities

Belief systems
are only as good
as the people who believe them.
if nobody believes in them,
they disappear.
Maybe that's perhaps why
ancient religions are gone,
nobody believes in them anymore ..
There are hundreds of thousands
if not millions
of redundant deities
turning to dust
with nobody left
to think about them...
sort of like old 78 RPM records
that nobody listens to anymore
and old books nobody reads anymore.. they are there
but not in active service
in the practical world..
Some specialist researchers
are familiar with old music,
old religion..
old writing
& old stuff in general..
but when even they
stop thinking about them,
then this old stuff disappears.
Its valid
but its not alive anymore
in the collective imagination
