but not to the extent
that the world is 50 times worse
then George Orwell's 1984.

is right now
its a full time job,

Animals accept these hard choices without so much as a single whine
Describing the extent of
external societal control
via art has become
dark entertainment
Nobody really wants to know
they were never free
and so they don't even miss it
Their favourite metaphore
is the tree
Dumb and static.
majestic but docile
standing in an accountable spot
for a great length of time
sucking always sucking,
with all the other trees in the forest
Until someone cuts them down

no tree is free
it is shackled
to circumstance
without choice
Kids are the worst
they fear knowledge
in case their friends
are not included
in the process of growth
so they remain, by choice
15 years old forever

as retarded
40 year old children
watching other peoples lives onscreen-
watching people who are free
watching people who don't watch tv
Nobody wants your soul
they just want your money
